April 2010 - Hoppy Easter!

We had a great Easter this year! The day started off with a delicious brunch at Grandma and Grandpa Wright's house made by Grandma and Spencer. After that, the girls hunted for easter eggs in the back yard. Everyone got tons of surprise-filled eggs and Camryn even caught a little frog. After all of the eggs had been found, Spencer announced that he had captured the Easter Bunny, in an empty egg carton! haha Caitlin and Camryn slowly opened it up to get a peek at the bunny. Imagine their surprise, and how much Caitlin screamed, when a large frog jumped out!! Camryn quickly named the frogs Naveen and Tiana, after the main characters in The Princess and the Frog.
We took both of the frogs home and after playing with them and showing them to the neighbors, Brad and I decided that it would be best to let Naveen go and just keep Tiana. The girls all said goodbye to Naveen and watched him happily jump away. He must not have gotten very far, because we found him again just a few days later! It was then decided that we were meant to keep him since he found his way back. :) So, now we have two frogs that live in a tank in our spare bedroom!

April 2010 - Silly Monkeys

As the weather is getting much warmer, we have been enjoying time outside. Cassidy has started a new fashion trend among the girls. She wears her rain boots in the rain, and when it's a nice sunny day! The most creative outfit Cassidy has designed is a big plastic ring for a crown, her monkey swimsuit and of course some nice pink kitty boots! She felt this outfit was perfect for a nice run through the sprinkler. :)

March 2010 - Spring Break!

Caitlin's spring track-out conveniently falls when Camryn is out for spring break. :) Last year we went to Disney World, so this year we had to do something a little less expensive. We traveled to Gatlingburg, TN to meet Jeremy, Sarah, Deuce, Kayla, Laney and Josie for a few days of fun in the Smokey Mountains! We had a great time walking up and down the main street in Gatlinburg. The girls really enjoyed watching taffy being made, and of course sampling the goods. We also made the obligatory trips to the outlet mall. I think the men enjoyed this part the least. ;) Of course we also finally got a picture with all four of the girls in the fish tube at the aquarium! The highlight of the trip for the older kids though, was probably "swimming" in the hot tub every evening.

March 2010 - Cinderelly

As a special treat, Grandma Wright took Caitlin and Camryn to their first ballet. I was lucky enough to tag along as well! After fixing our hair and getting all dressed up, we headed to Raleigh to see The Carolina Ballet perform Cinderella. The girls loved the music and dancing, but didn't quite understand why no one was talking!

February 2010 - Bye Bye Teeth

Caitlin lost her 2 top teeth this month! For a week or so, her smile looked a little funny with just one of the top teeth gone. Now, she looks very cute and can finally say "Chrithmus" (Christmas). haha Back in November when her first tooth came out, she said she wanted to lose her top teeth before the holdays so she would have to talk that way. Silly girl. Now that these four teeth are out, I don't see/feel any more that are loose. Looks like the Tooth Fairy will be taking a break for a bit.

February 2010 - 100 Days Project and the Science Fair

Caitlin has now been in Kindergarten for 100 days. To mark this day, the classes are asked to make a poster using 100 items of the students choice, in a creative way, to help them understand just how long they have been in school. Caitlin decided that she wanted to use 100 Goldfish crackers! She wanted to make four smalls "suns" and one big "sun" in the middle. We worked with Caitlin to divide the Goldfish up for each sun then had to find items to make the circles. A baby bottle ended up being the perfect size for the smaller suns, and we used a big clock for the larger, center sun. Goldfish aren't flat, so it wasn't very easy to get them glued to the poster, but Caitlin finally got it done.

Caitlin also chose to participate in her school's Science Fair. The idea for her project came about when I sent a banana to school with her in her lunch bag. The banana was perfectly fine when I put it in that morning, but by lunch time Caitlin said it was much too brown and mushy to eat. This made her wonder what other places might cause bananas to turn brown and mushy. She placed bananas in various locations/conditions throughout the house, then observed and took pictures of the bananas every day until she deemed them to be brown and mushy. We all had a fun time with the project and Caitlin did a great job writing out all of her data and helping us arrange her poster board. She was very proud of it and really enjoyed seeing it at the Science Fair at her school. Projects are not judged until the students are in 2nd or 3rd grade, but Caitlin felt very special when her project was part of a scavenger hunt that was set up for all of the Kindergarteners.

February 2010 - More Lost Teeth and Hannah Montana!

Caitlin's other bottom baby tooth was very wiggly, but of course wasn't coming out on it's own due to the aforementioned shark tooth situation. :) Caitlin really wanted to wait until Grandma and Grandpa Russell got into town to have it pulled. We reluctantly let her wait the 2 weeks, but when the snow came through and travel plans had to change, we decided the tooth needed to come out before my parents could make it down. Once again, Caitlin bravely let Brad pull the tooth out. She did great and loves to show off her new teeth with a great big smile!

We had to postpone Caitlin's party with friends not just once, due to the weather, but another time, because Caitlin had a fever. The third time was a charm and Caitlin was able to have her Hannah Montana inspired birthday. :) The kids played and danced and had a good time being together! After pizza, the Hannah Montana cake was devoured and presents were opened. Caitlin definitely missed a couple of her friends that were unable to make this second rescheduling of the party, but she ended up having a nice time with those that were there!
